With this crap economy, I'm looking for new ways to save/make money. What are some of the ways you save/ make extra money for your family? I already clip coupons and have done clothing consignment.
I have found that if I want to save money without slaving away at work for ridiculous amounts of hours a week (just to make money to buy that cool lamp that sits in my apt off while i'm at work making money to get the cool rug that will match...) I cut out luxuries. I don't have cable, I have two roommates, I don't make car payments, I have a "family plan" phone, I cut back on how much I eat out. Instead of trying to generate "wealth" I am (slowly and impatiently) learning to stop spending the wealth I've generated. But Mr. E-Rock is definitely giving up a luxury too!
Well, luckily we can afford some luxuries. I don't think not having cable is an option in my house. However, Jill, going without such things will teach you more than how to live on a tight budget! As far as Mr. E-Rock: I love generic items? Who needs name brand? It's all the same! I'm becoming so cheap I only buy generic items that are on sale!
